fucking finally! received email on tuesday congratulating me for official acceptance into armed forces. they tell me to attend enrolment ceremony that friday.
a pattern i’ve been noticing is that the c.a.f. takes a stupendous amount of time processing applications but always gives the shortest notice to attend/complete the subsequent requirement.
[april 22]
i enter the armoury and i see the enrollment setup. applicants were facing the flags and picture of the queen. behind were officers doing paperwork with applicants whose names they called up.
i take a seat in right most side of last row. i chat with this guy called jacob and he lets me touch his rolex. soon my name gets called by a (sri lanken?) officer and we do final signing of papers regarding drugs, trade confirmation, etc. one thing that bugged me immensely was a form saying, ‘hey u gotta do your courses and be trade qualified by april 2023 or we will have right to fire u. and oh yea your bmq and dp1 course prob not gonna be back to back so u gotta wait until next summer to do trade specific course’.
then funny thing, the officers get through paper work ahead of schedule and we get notified that the zoom broadcast is pushed forward 30mins. i message my fam and friends but i suspect them not to make it w/ like 10min heads up so whatever i ask jacob to film the thing.
so at 11:00, each person is ushered up according to seating and do the 30 second oath (solemn or on bible). the captain i did paperwork with swears everyone in. i was last to do it so i guess they save the best for the last.
